• Haxted Wins at What House Awards

Haxted is delighted to report that our prime waterside development on Poole harbour, received a silver in the Best Luxury Development category at the What House 2013 Awards last Friday, 15th November. Widely recognized as the Oscars of the house-building industry, the award was recognition of our commitment to design excellence. Here’s what the judges had to say:  328 Sandbanks Road, Poole, Dorset What House 2013 Best Luxury Development: Silver Judges comments:

Sandbanks may be just a small peninsula, but it is a hideously expensive millionaire’s playground, with properties tending to fetch ludicrous prices. But this is not Sandbanks; this apartment scheme is back in the real world on a real road in Poole. However, it is still very much waterfront, overlooking what is said to be the second largest natural harbour in the world. But this is no Miami bling; it is luxurious and bold, but restrained at the same time. The external palettes are beautifully complementary, made up of three main materials in black brickwork, ivory stucco render and patinated zinc. Many luxury schemes can make huge assumptions to accompany huge prices. But here the living space is very flexible and the prices for the five apartments start from just under £1m. The waterfront facade is a tiered cake that, while striking, sits comfortably in its landscape. The attention to detail is obvious and a lot of thought and passion has clearly gone into its construction. The specification is what you would expect at the luxury end of the market, but again it doesn’t shout opulence; it whispers it. This is subtlety done incredibly well. The layout and terraces take full advantages of the views towards Brownsea Island and mature gardens lead down to boat storage and a private slipway to the harbour. Haxted Estates is clearly one to watch.
